When Life Gets Frustrating
66When Everything Falls Apart
I'm sure you've had the experience, you go to do something and it doesn't work. So you wait a bit, and try again, with the same results. So maybe "it's" broken. Nope, not broken, you've been doing it wrong. More on that later.
Sometimes there are days where everything I touch seems to turn to ... well, excrement. I tried blogging this morning and nearly drove myself crazy trying to get a single news story on anxiety related conditions. There were repeats of the same story appearing in another dress, but nothing new. So, I decided to check the blogs, well they were all about as helpful as a kick in the head. On top of all that, I forgot to take my Klonopin this morning so I took it late, and by the time I took it, felt pretty bad.
Then my best friend calls and says he'd like to come over and check his mail. I don't mind that, he uses my computer because he lives out in the sticks where there just isn't an Internet option under 150.00 a month. The problem comes from the fact that when he comes over, I can't work on my pages or blogs. Worse yet, the thinks it's all a huge waste of my time. And, when I told him that a few days ago, he got defensive, and left upset.
Ok, so he comes over and that's fine because I don't do anything but mess up what I touch so why not, but while he's checking his mail it occurs to me that everything I have tried to do today has been a great big failure. Well, that nearly set off the depression of the year, were it not for a trick I learned a long time ago. When it can't seem to get any worse, just sit down and pay close to attention to a doorknob or something.
The next thing I know, I'm waking up form a midday nap, something I hate to do, and go back to checking for any new news from the medical sources. Nothing. Zip. So I tried to fix a couple of widgets on the page, and messed them up so bad they had to be deactivated, and started again.
So here's my theory. When nothing is going right, chances are good the trend will continue all day. Best thing is to step away from it, go talk to friends, find someone in your family to spend some time with, and let all the broken efforts lay behind you.
Later you can go back, pick up, and start over again. You see, frustration only makes things worse. If you are already frustrated and try to do something chances are you're going to mess it up, and then be more frustrated than before. If you keep going like that you'll eventually ruin the whole day.
