Have you been help by a Sister of Charity of Nazareth?

I want to hear from anyone who has ever been helped, in any way, by a Sister of Charity of Nazareth? For a long time they ran a psychiatric hospital in Louisville, Kentuck, called Our Lady of Peace. I was there twice, at sixteen, and seventeen. While I was there I spent a great deal of time in their chapel because I was suffering such intense anxiety, and I have always turned to my faith when there was no where else to turn.

One night, at the breaking point, I sat in that chapel and cried. An old nun who prayed in there at night, and usually ignored me completely, came over to me and merely put her hands on my shoulders. When I looked up at her, she smiled at me and said "God loves you and is helping you right now."

That made a huge impression on an anxiety riddled, depressed seventeen year old boy who was doing his best to come to terms with being both Gay and a Christian, and Chronic Generalized Anxiety;

Fast forward to a fifty year old man who lives across the street, not by planning, from the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. Last Friday I was in a depression so deep, that I couldn't think of a single reason to live. This wasn't just a depression, it was an attack, "why not kill yourself and it'll all be over," followed by "you are waste of the molecules it takes to make you," only to be topped by, "You are a waste of the resources it takes to keep you alive."

So, I fled across the street to the church on their sisters property, it is called St. Vincents. When I entered the church no one was there. Now, when I'm praying to save my own life I tend to pray out loud, and weep a good bit. Periodically I checked to make sure I was indeed alone in the church. After about twenty minutes I decided to just go home.

When I turned around, four rows behind me knelt seven elderly nuns,praying, not looking at me, but praying. I can not help but believe they were in there praying for me. That my intense suffering somehow called these holy women into the church to pray for me.

On my way home it hit me, that was not the first time I have wept for my life in a church of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. It was also not the first time that old nuns had come to my spiritual aid. That in some mysterious way, I owe my life to those nuns.

So, if you or someone you know has been helped by a Sister of Charity of Nazareth, then I want you to fill this hub up with comments until they have to shut us down.

I am glad that nuns came to pray for you when you felt depressed. When you really pray to God in your heart, He will send you help. Please read my hub,"Lifting up Hands in Worship and Prayer." God bless!
